Mobirise

The purpose of program is to support the local organizations providing resources for People Living With Aids (PLWA) in the community. The Chapter provides residents of the Positively Living Housing Program with necessities such as: antibiotic ointment, bandages, and alcohol prep wipes.

The goal of the quarterly event is to provide toiletry items necessary for personal hygiene and for the those living with Aids and/or HIV Positive who may be homeless.

Effectiveness, Outcome and Impact: The effectiveness is to reach people living with HIV/AIDS and provide them with items necessary to care of their personal hygiene needs with the condition. The outcome and impact of the efforts reaches nearly two hundred local residence and raise awareness of their needs within our community. More than 200 items were made available for individuals who would not have been able to afford them.

Mobirise

The purpose of the program is to provide an opportunity to encourage young students and their families to engage in physical exercise, healthy eating and living healthier lifestyles to combat obesity. with their parents/guardians.

The goal is to engage middle school students and their parents in joint efforts to address nutrition and physical fitness with a certified trainer on a quarterly basis.

Effectiveness, Outcome and Impact: The program’s effectiveness is designed to reach youth at an early age to encourage and promote healthy lifestyles through physical fitness. The programs are 45-minute session designed to educate and provide training for 12 participants and parents.

Mobirise

The purpose of the program is to promote cancer awareness and openly discuss the many forms of cancer and ways to reduce health risk.

The goal is to provide an avenue for community members to learn about cancer, and more specifically support systems for cancer care on a semi-annual basis.

Effectiveness, Outcomes and Impact: The program’s effectiveness is designed so that individuals can immediately learn about ways to reduce the risk of cancer, identify early signs, and speak with a clinical nurse and other medical staff. Partnerships are formed with local advocacy organizations, for profit and non-profit groups, and Cancer Support Foundation, to reach diverse audiences and make a significant impact in the communities we serve.

The purpose of the program is to provide information for families dealing with the stress, anxiety, depression and other relates mental health issues un the community.

The goal is to raise awareness of current issues impacting individuals due to mental health issues. Individuals will receive information on treatment, before and after care and techniques to deal with family members on an annual basis.

Effectiveness, Outcome and Impact: The effectiveness of the program is to promote healthy lifestyles, by taking advantage of information and services to identify and aid individuals dealing with mental illness. Using the new radio show, we reach an audience of approximately 50K listeners during the afternoon programming scheduling. The show provides information for the Black, underserved and senior members of the community on mental health and resources available to address stress and related illnesses; share information on topics such as high blood pressure, diabetes and other chronic illnesses.

EDUCATION

This program was designed, to open doors for the Greater Knoxville Chapter to engage with multiple groups by supporting funding, mentoring and promoting education in the area of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and related fields.

The goal is to be visible and engage in all efforts and initiatives to move forward the agenda that supports both girls in their growth and education.

Effectiveness, Outcome and Impact: The effectiveness of the program is to serve as a progressive partner advancing education for girls in non-traditional fields of STEM and related worthwhile careers. There is the potential opportunity to reach an audience of 12 youth per year to educate them about careers that could change the course of history and the lives of young people.

This program was designed, to open doors for the Greater Knoxville Chapter to engage with multiple groups by providing communication that informs the community about matters effecting education and available resources.

The goal is to be visible and engage in all efforts and initiatives to move forward the agenda that supports both girls in their growth and education.

Effectiveness, Outcome and Impact: The effectiveness of the program is to serve as a partner in the community promoting the needs of public education. The program reaches the Black community to promote improved and better education for the local communities on matters related to decisions made about Charter schools, information technologies and budgets. The impact is on all county schools reaching thousands of families and sharing information via public media, virtual technology or other communication avenues.

This program was designed, for the Greater Knoxville Chapter to open doors and engage with School Board members and multiple groups to influence funding and guidelines necessary to promoting educational excellence in the local school system.

The goal is to be visible and engage in all efforts and initiatives to move forward the agenda that supports both girls in their growth and education through community influence.

Effectiveness, Outcome and Impact: The effectiveness of the program is to serve as a progressive partner influencing decisions that advancing educational needs for girls in the local community. The outcome and impact are to use resources and media connections to reach the hundreds in the Black community to promote education related to the School Board agenda and educational impacts.

The purpose of this program was designed, to open doors for the Greater Knoxville Chapter to engage with multiple groups by providing communication that informs the community about matters effecting education and available resources.

The goal is to be visible and engage in all efforts and initiatives to move forward the agenda that supports both girls in their growth and education.

Effectiveness, Outcome and Impact: The program serve as a progressive partner advancing communication about education initiatives available for the advancement of college entry. Its effectiveness and outcomes provide information reaching an audience of thousands of radio listeners, virtual communications and other multi-media sources to educate the community on resources available to prepare college students for the upcoming school year.

ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

Mobirise

The purpose of the program is to promote financial literacy education to support Chapter members in their understanding of the process for successful fund raising and organizational commitment.

The goal is to annually, educate members on smart non-profit management and remaining financially viable in tough economics; becoming self-sufficiency.

Effectiveness, Outcome and Impact: The effectiveness of the program is through partnerships with like-minded organizations, presenting workshops for member development, we prepare for the future and growth. The outcomes and impacts of this program allow us to reach hundreds of women and girls by partnering with local businesses and financial institutions to host training and development for attendees whereby they increased their knowledge of basic fundraising techniques.

The purpose of the program is to promote and enhance the knowledge about the financial impact of spending Black money in our community with Black businesses.

The goal is to educate the community on local minority owned businesses and promote smart spending with Black businesses.

Effectiveness, Outcome and Impact: The effectiveness of the program is to form partnership with like-minded organizations to advance financial growth for Black businesses in the area and sought to understand the total dollar spend based on the week-long campaign. NCBW partnered with six Black businesses during this campaign and encouraged the community to solicit some 30 plus business in the community.

The purpose of the program is to promote financial literacy to the underserved and underbanked community; to enhance the knowledge of financial acumen of our community.

The goal is to annually, educate women and girls on smart financial planning and promote economic self-sufficiency.

Effectiveness, Outcome and Impact: The effectiveness is forming partnerships with like-minded organizations, which allows us to we present workshops on: Basic Money Management, Investing for the Future and Grown and On My Own targeting youth. The outcome and impact reach hundreds in the community through partnering with three local sororities and two financial institutions to host approximately 100 attendees whereby they increased their knowledge of basic money management and investment for the future.

PUBLIC POLICY

Mobirise

The goal and purpose are to interface and partner with other local organizations and groups who shared a common vision in public policy.

Effectiveness, Outcome and Impact: This Chapter partners with the League of Women Voters and to be highly visible in supporting the forum by hosting a table, providing services such as securing the microphone for participants, sign in and collecting questions from the audience. The outcome and effectiveness of Mayor Candidate Forum is well attended by approximately 150 participants. The forum allows mayoral candidates attended to share their vision for the betterment for the City of Knoxville. The visibility of the NCBW was an expression of our interest and influence in local politics.

The goal and purpose are to engage candidates to have open dialogue around issues affecting the local communities at the county and city level.

Effectiveness: Partnering with the League of Women Voters, NCBW members provided assistance with collecting questions from the audience, encouraging attendance to the meeting and to remind others to vote.

Effectiveness, Outcome and Impact: The effectiveness is through partnering with the League of Women Voters, NCBW members provided assistance with collecting questions from the audience, encouraging attendance to the meeting and to remind others to vote. The outcome and impact provided Chapter members an opportunity to engage in dialogue with an audience of about 50 people on the importance of understanding the issues and voting to and to make a difference in the communities.

Goal: The goal and purpose are to receive updates on previous and current status of the proposed State budgets, changes in leadership and the overall impact candidates have on public schools.

Effectiveness, Outcome and Impact: The effectiveness is launching a successfully engaged discussion provided insight and updates that needed to be questioned or challenged. The outcome and impact were reaching a board forum of approximately eighty participants of which included the local city and county officials allowing the Great Knoxville Chapter to be considered a significant partner that the table bridging the policy makers and our community.

The goal and purpose of the conference is to effect policies that create positive change for women in Tennessee.

Effectiveness, Outcome and Impact: The joint effort of the NCBW Chapters, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Memphis, and Metro Nashville Chapters were successful in creating a presence and adding our voice to policies that affect women in Tennessee. We helped to form committees to create a voice for legislative solutions pertaining to women’s health and pay disparities.

The goal and purpose are to raise awareness of and advocate for victims of human trafficking compensation fund in the state treasury for comprehensive treatment and support of victims of human trafficking.

Effectiveness, Outcome and Impact: The effectiveness of these relationships provides the Chapter an opportunity to express our position on the importance of creating solutions for human trafficking part with a special focus on “Saving Our Brown Girls Dream.” The outcome and impact reach national and local influencers who help promote and bring about change in laws that negatively affect women and girls. Rep. G. A. Hardaway, Chair of the Tennessee Black Caucus, has pledged his and the Caucus support for the NCBW of Tennessee. He stated that our presence on Capitol Hill did not go unnoticed by the other legislators.
